Makeup Photo Shoot: Embrace Your Natural Beauty!

Model: Cecilia Lee
Makeup Artist: Joan Hwang

Products used in this Makeup Photo shoot include Bobbi Brown, Aveeno and Camera Ready Cosmetics.

Here are a few tips and tricks on embracing your natural beauty through makeup:

#1: Apply eye primer all over the lid:

The Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base is honestly the best eye primer I have ever worked with! It holds in the color and makes the eye shadow last all day. For those with oily lids, to truly ensure that your eye shadow will stay looking fresh and vibrant, I like to apply a powder foundation (Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Press Powder) to the upper lid and lower lash line. That way, it seals in the color and does not make the shadow run throughout the day.

#2: To really highlight the brow bone:

I like to use Bobbi Brown's foundation stick in Warm Sand. This really brings all the colors together for a more finished look.

#3: For a natural eyeliner look:

Take an eyeliner brush and dip it into eyeliner sealer. This can be bought at camerareadycosmetics.com. Then dip the brush into brown/black eyeshadow. I like to apply this to the top and bottom of the eyes. This really makes the eyeliner last. Also for those who have trouble using liquid, pencil or gel liners, this is the way to go!

#4: Your eyebrows are the frame of your face!

Never never never use black to draw in your brows. This is very imperative. It will age you and it is not flattering at all! First use an eye brow brush comb to tame those hairs. For natural looking eye brows, apply brown shadow with an eye brow brush. If your brows are in dire need of attention and care, go to a brow specialist.

#5: To create a no makeup look:

It is very important to find the best skin care that is suitable for your complexion. For instance, I have normal to combination skin, which means that I tend to break out from time to time. On a daily basis, I have normal skin but it can get oily or dry depending on the weather. The solution to my combination skin is a fantastic moisturizer by Bobbi Brown. It is a mixture of B81 Vitamin Enriched Face Base and Hydrating Cream. This ensures that there will be no cracks or wrinkles. Bobbi Brown's skin care line is truly a godsend. It helps by hydrating and reviving my skin. Face primer is not necessary. It really provides an amazing base for flawless looking makeup.

The night before, it is a good idea to wear eye cream so that your eyes looked well rested, making your eye make up even more gorgeous!

After applying moisturizer and eye cream, here are a few things I like to use to cover those acne scars, sun spots and other blemishes that you've been trying to hide. I believe I found the perfect solution for those troubled spots!

Step One: I like to start with Aveeno's Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Fair to Light. This really evens out and brightens my skin tone, providing natural-looking coverage, while covering those imperfections. This tinted moisturizer also provides SPF 30, which is great to wear alone when you're doing any outdoor activities.

Step Two: With a foundation brush, I apply a small amount of Bobbi Brown's Liquid Foundation all over the face. I like to use Warm Sand. Make sure to keep blending. Blend blend blend! Also, when trying to find the right foundation, it is important to match the foundation to the color tone of your neck. You don't want to look like a floating head!

Step Three: If you tend to have oily skin, try applying Bobbi Brown's Sheer Finished Pressed Powder with Bobbi Brown's Face Blender brush. Pale Yellow works really well for me. I promise you, your foundation will not look caked on.

Step Four: For Bobbi's Warm, Pop, and Glow!

With a blush brush, I like to apply Bobbi Brown's Blush called Nectar #11. It is just the right shade of pink! A matte finish with long lasting wear. Smile and apply to the apple of your cheeks. For a shimmery glow, follow with a Shimmer Brick in Rose Gold. Apply with Bobbi Brown's Face Blender Brush.

#6: Choose your favorite regular and waterproof mascara:

To ensure that your lashes stay full and voluminous all day long, I first like to apply Rimmel London's Volume Accelerator and then I finish it off with Rimmel London's Waterproof Sexy Curves. That way you get fuller looking lashes combined with the power of the waterproof mascara. Rimmel London's Waterproof mascara is truly a wonderful product! It can stay on through rain or tears (I'm not kidding!).

#7: Fresh Sugar Lip Polish:

For troubled lips, especially during dreary winter days, I like to use a sugar lip polish by Fresh. It gently exfoliates and conditions your lips for a soft and smooth finish. Here is a description I found on Sephora's website that wonderfully defines this fabulous product:

What it is formulated to do (Sephora):

This unique formula is enriched with real brown sugar crystals to gently buff away dry flakes. It nourishes the lips with the oils of meadow foam seed, jojoba seed, and grape seed while shea butter provides long-lasting moisture.

#8: Award Winning Sheer Color Lip Gloss:

Bobbi Brown's Sheer Color Gloss in Bright Pink 20 is the best gloss I have ever used! Not only is the color sweet and pretty, its soothing botanicals conditions the lips for a healthy and soft look.

Here are just some of the tips and tricks that I have found after using many many products that did not work for me. After many years of going through the growing pains, I made it my mission to find the best natural and effortless products that would make me feel beautiful and confident. I can honestly say that all the products I've shared with you will truly bring out and embrace your true natural beauty. I hope you find these tips helpful. I am currently taking a makeup class by Mac so I am constantly learning innovative ways to achieve beautiful makeup. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at livinginabigfashionworld@gmail.com. Thank you so much for your time!

Using Fashion to Look Great: I Have Mesothelioma

Jackie Clark, a writer from the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance (http://www.mesothelioma.com/), reached out to me to share an article about women feeling beautiful no matter what circumstances that may come their way. Here she shares a powerful message on how women can feel strong, confident, and feel beautiful in their own skin.

Using Fashion to Look Great
By: Jackie Clark

All women deserve to feel beautiful, because they are. Fashion is one way to bring every woman's inner beauty to the surface. All women can look beautiful, no matter what struggles they are facing in their lives, including mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma is a rare cancer caused by asbestos exposure and inhalation of asbestos particles. Symptoms of mesothelioma do not appear until many years down the road. If you suffer symptoms of mesothelioma, it is important to
consult a doctor with experience in diagnosing the disease immediately. Catching mesothelioma in its early stages provides the individual with more treatment options. Beating the cancer is a long and difficult road, but there are many ways for women to still feel beautiful and spirited along the way.

A woman with many other expenses can find affordable and fashionable clothes thanks to thrift and convenience stores. A woman diagnosed with mesothelioma can uplift her spirits by treating herself to a facial and a new outfit. A woman who is struggling with her weight can choose clothes that compliment her best features to build her self-esteem. Using fashion to look great is a simple way for women to boost their self-esteem and highlight their best features. Below are some tips to keep in mind when using fashion to bring out a woman's inner beauty.

Highlight your best features. Whether you're choosing a new wardrobe or applying makeup, you can benefit from focusing on your best features. Reflect on what you find attractive about yourself. Ask for the opinions of friends and
family if you’re uncomfortable deciding. Once you have a good idea of what your best features are, think of clothing, makeup, hairstyle, and other options that call attention to those features.

Use natural makeup. The point of makeup is to draw attention to you and your best features, not to the fact that you're wearing makeup. Try to choose makeup that complements you without making it too obvious that you're wearing makeup. Natural-looking makeup works great, especially if you're not used to wearing makeup on a daily basis. This doesn't mean you can't use color, it just means you should choose subtle shades that blend well rather than bright, over-the-top, colors. Another great tip is to try to choose certain features of your face that you want to draw attention to. Use color there rather than using dramatic color on all areas of your face.

Treat yourself. It's okay to indulge in beauty treatments occasionally. Sign up for a mani-pedi, have your hair done, or get a facial. If you are low on cash, you can always ask for gift certificates for your birthday or holidays.

Consult a professional. Free fashion and beauty advice is always available. Most beauty salons or department stores offer free facials where their staff will provide makeup demonstrations and suggestions. Most clothing store associates will offer advice on what type of clothing suits you. Most hair salons can offer you advice about what type of hairstyle suits you best. If you are unsure about what styles and fashions suit you best, help is never far away.

My Bobbi Brown Beauty Regimen

To achieve a natural look, choosing the right brush is key. Listed above is the following: Bobbi Brown Face Brush, Bobbi Brown Foundation Brush, Amore Blush Brush, Sheer Cover Eyeshadow Base Brush, MAC 239 Eye Shader Brush, MAC 224 Tapered Blending Brush, MAC 217 Blending Brush, and MAC 219 Pencil Brush.
Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 Warm Sand #2.5. Apply with Bobbi Brown Foundation Brush. After applying the foundation to the entire face, blend with finger tips. This foundation offers natural coverage, evens skin tones and hides imperfections.
Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Stick Warm Sand #2.5. Blend with fingertips. Perfect for concealing any imperfections, redness or blemishes.
Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick Warm Sand #2.5. Apply with fingertips. Great for highlighting above the eyebrows, upper brow bone, and underneath the eyes. For tips and tricks on highlighting, stay tune for my next post.
Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder Golden Light #1. Apply with Bobbi Brown Face Brush. For tips and tricks on contouring, stay tune for my next post.
Bobbi Brown Blush Nectar #11. Apply with Amore Blush Brush on the apple of the cheeks, blending up to the hairline. Then smooth out with Bobbi Brown Face Brush for a more natural look.
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow Copper Penny #20. Apply with Sheer Cover Base Brush. Remember to apply eye primer before applying eyeshadow. Eye primer locks in the color and prevents the eyeshadow from fading or creasing. I also like to apply Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream before applying the eye primer for added moisture.
Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow White #1. Great for highlighting the upper brow bone. Apply with Sheer Cover Base Brush.
Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Shadow Sage #4. Apply with MAC 239 Eye Shader Brush. This brush has a tapered, rounded edge that can be used to build intense color on the eyelid. For a smokier look, apply with MAC 219 Pencil Brush in the eye crease or along the lash line.
Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow Saddle #61. I use this eyeshadow as an eyebrow shader. Apply with Lilique Angled Brush #284 for a natural smooth look with no harsh lines. Bobbi Brown herself says," Start at the inside of the brow line, use short feathery strokes, follow the shape of the brow, brush the hair up, make the most out of your arch and make sure the ends come to a point." The eyebrows are the frame to your face.
Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Mascara and Extreme Party Mascara. I like to use a combination of the two together. The Extreme Party Mascara creates unbelievable volume while the Perfectly Defined Mascara lengthens and separates my lashes.

I highly recommend that you try using Bobbi Brown's line at least once. I am truly inspired by all the wonderful colors that she uses. It is all about emphasizing natural beauty and creating a healthy appearance by feeling and looking your best. I will upload my Bobbi Brown look on my next post. I will also include tips and tricks on contouring and highlighting so please visit me soon!

Here are three ways to wear hot pink denim in the fall. For a funky chic look, I paired a cropped tie dye button down with an animal print scarf. To achieve a more effortless look, try wearing a poncho-style sweater with a printed scarf. And last but not least, pair these hot pink skinnies with an off the shoulder knitted sweater. Branch out of the classic blues and experience the world of colored denim!
